If you're new to this website, or to this kind of website, read this...
If you haven't registered yet, when you arrive at the HOME page you'll be able to see several things. These include Latest Events, Newsletter subscribe, Online Users, Latest Article, Community Statistics, Members, Latest Videos and Recent Activities. In order to gain access to more information, you will need to register as a Supporter of the Parallel Community. The registration has been put in place in order to protect our member's privacy.
Registering
Lower down, you'll see a box called Get Connected. This is where you can register as a supporter and member of the Parallel Community. Click 'Join us now'. Click it just ONCE and wait until the page has fully loaded. Espescially if you use Internet Explorer or if you live in remote places then the internet connection could be slower. When the page is fully loaded, then proceed with the registrattion.Give your name, and the 'user name' or ID you'd like to be identified as (such as your first name, or a nickname). Fill in the other boxes too.
When you get to the part which asks for your picture, upload a picture of you from your computer. If you're cyber-shy and you don't want to show your face, upload another picture that will work as an 'avatar' or symbol for you. If you don't want to do this either, click 'Skip', and you'll have a nondescript, uninformative 'avatar'. Or you can come back to this later.
NOTE: If the registration process takes longer than 3 mins you could get an error message at completion. All previous data will be lost. To prevent this happening, try shortening your processing time by entering only the data required (*) and enter just one word or one line at the "About Me" field. You will be able to edit your profile details once you have completed your registration (by going to Profile Details in the User Menu).
TIP: if you own a website and you want to share the link in your Profile Details at "Website", make sure you use the complete URL. This always starts with: http:// and then your domain name (for example: www.yourwebsitename.extension).
This completes registration. Well done! Once your registration process is completed, an email will be sent to you. In that email you will find a link that will activate your account. Once activated you can sign in using your login name and password: enter the ID you've chosen and your password, and then you'll be signed in, and you'll have full access to the contents of the site.
Then go to the Profile section and give more information about yourself - we all need to know more about you, since this is a community. You can look at others' profiles for examples. Give enough information about yourself, so that others can find out who you are and whether they wish to get in touch with you. If people want to contact you, they can send you a message or invite you to be their friend without needing to know your e-mail address - their messages or invitations will be sent to you by the website itself.
What's on the site
On the site there are various facilities. You can post information about events you're involved with or know of, or you can suggest links to useful websites (but these will go via a moderator, who will judge whether it's useful to the community as a whole - mainly to eliminate advertising or undue self-promotion). If such an event is in a particular country, other PC supporters in that country will get to know of it.
You can post requests, offers and points of information too. To do this, click Bulletin Board at the top of the screen. You can engage in discussions here too, or start discussions.
You can join a specific group too, for your country or a special-interest group. People can form into groups, by country or area of interest, and engage in dialogue about specific things that interest them. In some cases this will lead to 'offline' interactions and friendships, to things getting started and things lifting off.
When signed up and logged in, the last tab belonging to the homepage menu you'll find Blog. When you put your mouse cursor over it, it will reveal more items like "All blog entries". That's where you can read the Connectors and Core Team member blogs. The bloggers can enter all sorts of information, journal posts, and embed videos and photos in their blog.
You will be able to comment on articles, blogs and news.
Click around the various links you can see, and you'll find out the full range of pages and facilities available to you. Have some fun!
About community behaviour on this site
1. This site is not a marketing and self-promotion medium - we do not advertise or try to sell things here. You may inform others of what's happening and what you're doing, for their information, but do not try to sell here - this doesn't help build a community. (The site is moderated.)
2. This is not a place for persuading or converting people. You might well possess the final secret of the universe, and your belief might be the greatest of all, but here you are a member of a community of souls, and we're not up for conversion to your path. All of us have a contribution to make, and all of us see a facet of the great diamond of truth. You're welcome to share your truth and tell us all about your activities, for our interest, and some people might support you in it, of their own accord. If you take a 'communal' approach, you'll get much better results! Also, the moderators of this site will not need to remove your stuff or require you to rewrite it!
3. It's all about mutual support and appreciating each other for what and who we are. Let's make our lives a bit easier. Let's support and encourage one another, and help each other when we can. Offer what comes easily to you, and ask for what's difficult for you. Together, as a network, we can help move things forward, not only for ourselves, but also for the wider world. Which, as you know, is a world in deep trouble - and we're all here to do something about that. "We hang together or we hang separately."
Any questions, put out a signal on this site (on the bulletin board, for example), or contact the webmasters if you have a problem or a suggestion (click 'Contact Webmaster' at the bottom of the page), or contact Parallel Community HQ (click 'Contact' at the top).
Welcome to the Parallel Community! Something is happening, and it's all of us who will make it happen.
